How to Make Paella

Paella is a traditional Spanish dish that originates from Valencia. It is primarily made with rice and a variety of ingredients, often including seafood, chicken, or vegetables. Here's a simple recipe to get you started:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of Bomba or Arborio rice
  • 4 cups of chicken or seafood broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon saffron threads
  • 1 lb of chicken thighs, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup of shrimp, cleaned
  • 1/2 cup of diced bell peppers
  • 1/2 cup of green peas
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large paella pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chicken pieces and cook until browned.
  2. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until translucent.
  3. Stir in the bell peppers, saffron, and cook for a few minutes.
  4. Add the rice, stirring to coat it in the flavors.
  5. Pour in the broth and bring to a simmer. Do not stir after this point.
  6. Add shrimp and peas on top of the rice. Cook until the rice absorbs the liquid and is tender.
