How to Make Paella
Paella is a traditional Spanish dish that originates from Valencia. It is primarily made with rice and a variety of ingredients, often including seafood, chicken, or vegetables. Here's a simple recipe to get you started:
Ingredients
- 2 cups of Bomba or Arborio rice
- 4 cups of chicken or seafood broth
- 1/2 teaspoon saffron threads
- 1 lb of chicken thighs, cut into pieces
- 1 cup of shrimp, cleaned
- 1/2 cup of diced bell peppers
- 1/2 cup of green peas
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- Olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a large paella pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chicken pieces and cook until browned.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until translucent.
- Stir in the bell peppers, saffron, and cook for a few minutes.
- Add the rice, stirring to coat it in the flavors.
- Pour in the broth and bring to a simmer. Do not stir after this point.
- Add shrimp and peas on top of the rice. Cook until the rice absorbs the liquid and is tender.
