How to Make Samosas
Samosas are a popular Indian snack known for their crispy exterior and flavorful filling. Here’s how to make them:
Ingredients
- For the dough: 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup oil, 1/2 tsp salt, water (as needed)
- For the filling: 2 medium potatoes (boiled and mashed), 1/2 cup green peas (boiled), 1 tsp cumin seeds, 1 tsp garam masala, 1/2 tsp chili powder, salt to taste, chopped cilantro
Instructions
- Make the Dough: In a bowl, mix flour and salt. Add oil and rub through the flour. Gradually add water to make a smooth dough. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Prepare the Filling: Heat oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, and sauté. Add mashed potatoes, peas, garam masala, chili powder, and salt. Mix well and let it cool.
- Roll Out the Dough: Divide the dough into equal balls. Roll each ball into a circle, about 6 inches in diameter.
- Shape the Samosas: Cut the circle in half, form a cone, and seal the edges. Fill with the potato mixture and seal the open edge.
- Fry the Samosas: Heat oil in a deep pan. Fry the samosas on medium heat until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
